Foton started operating in 1998 as an experimental electronic music label. Over time we slowly mutated into a multi-disciplinary octopus, a collective presenting many facets of the same thing: to be passionately creative, be it in music, performing arts, urban activism, new media or good old, solid partying. Foton presented a unique combination of these activities, often inspiring the landscape around us and teaming up with likeminded souls along the way.The people behind Foton have slowly found their own, individual ways to give shape to their dreams. More so than ever Foton provides the structure and the means for these people to develop their projects, alone or in collaboration with each other. The journey is not over yet, it is only about to begin.
Klorofil is the latest branch of the Foton tree, extending from the urban activism perspective that is a big part of Foton. Klorofil promotes urban agriculture through the use of 'lost' space in the city. Klorofil was initiated by Foton co-founder Hans De Man. You can read all about Klorofil's growth on www.klorofil.be.
Time To Express was launched in 2008 by Foton co-founder Peter Van Hoesen. The label immediately garnered a solid reputation with techno afficionados around the globe, thanks to its forward-looking sound. Time To Express has build a solid online presence at www.t2x.eu.
This project carries the experimental audio side of Foton into the future. Atypical Audio offers qualitative sample libraries with a twist. High-end production values are combined with a fresh, radical approach to sound design. The sample libraries can be downloaded instantly via www.atypicalaudio.com.
Bent Object is the collaboration between Susanne Bentley and Peter Van Hoesen.
